The iPhone goes on sale on June 29th, are you ready? Read the latest tips on snagging your own iPhone.
Do you have your heart set on an iPhone? You may want to get in line now. A May poll by research firm M:Metrics revealed that about 19 million U.S. cell phone users are ready to fork over as much as $599 for the new iPhone. That's almost what Bernstein Research predicts Apple will sell through 2008.
The new iPhone will go on sale June 29 and all indications are the demand will be huge. AT&T is hiring 2000 temporary workers to help with the launch. Apple CEO Steve Jobs has forecast sales of 10 million iPhones in the first 18 months -a conservative estimate based on independent research.
AT&T nabbed the iPhone exclusive early on. M:Metrics analyst Mark Donovan said "Two-thirds of the people who said they have a strong interest in buying an iPhone currently subscribe to AT&T's three biggest competitors." He added "In this mature market, it's all about stealing customers from competitors."
Even the hefty price tag - as much a $599 with a two year contract - does not seem to discourage potential buyers. It is still unclear what plan AT&T will require with the iPhone but you can be sure the lure of technology will overpower the fear of the unknown. Donovan noted that once the initial group gets its iPhones contract pricing may be a barrier to some buyers.
Because of the youthful demographic, T-Mobile customers seem to have the most interest in changing. According to the M:Metrics survey, 12.5% of T-Mobile subscribers expressed a high interest in buying the iPhone, compared to 8.1% for Sprint Nextel customers and 6.7% for Verizon users.
Here are a few iPhone shopping tips.
* Get your www.CellForCash.com transaction started right away. You can have your box by the time you get your iPhone and some cash in your pocket to help you get past the sticker shock.
* AT&T spokesman John Kampfe says "The iPhone will be available...only in AT&T-owned retail stores, Apple retail stores and through Apple's online store." Check out Apple's online store on June 29. According to Steve Jobs the iPhone is set to go on sale at 6 p.m. that day. But forget trying AT&T's site; the company says it won't be selling iPhones online, at least initially.
* Call a few local AT&T stores and see if you can get on their waiting lists or if your local sales representative has any tips about how that particular store is handling requests.
* Show up early at an Apple store or company-owned AT&T store before they open on June 29. The big question is how many phones each store will stock.
* Wait until the June 29 launch mania dies down and hope that AT&T and Apple decide to allow locally owned AT&T agents to sell the iPhone.
AT&T Inc. has spent $50 million on its network in anticipation of the heightened activity expected to follow the iPhone's debut on the 29th, anyone willing to break their existing contract can expect to pat $175 on top of the cost of the new gadget.
Apple is hyping this product like no other and it's far from over. Stay tuned for more info as we get it.

Apple Iphones price = Expensive? by Josef B. Rosenberg
Costing about $500 or $600 (depending on the specific model), the Apple iPhone might seem significantly more expensive than its Plain Jane cellphone counterparts which only cost $100 to $200. But let's take a closer look at whether it is a fair comparison.
Apple's products, like Japanese manufacturer Sony, have always commanded a premium in the market.
While it's easy to say that a similar cellphone might cost significant less, and represent better value for money, is that really the case?
For starters, Apple has emphasized a great deal on the design and ergonomics of its products, as well as the usability of its products.
Witness the Apple Macintosh.
When released in 1984, it signalled a revolution for users everywhere.
Where computers used to be cryptic devices where you needed to learn to type cryptic codes to get it working, the Macintosh brought the Graphical User Interface (or GUI for short) to the forefront.
Suddenly, users who had "PC Phobia" were taking to computers which seemed so much easier to use.
Likewise, for the iPhone, it looks set to conquer the smartphone market.
Instead of cryptic commands to perform complex operations, the Apple iPhone has incorporated several 'smart' features, such as the ability to magnify and reduce screen images by "pinching" or "squeezing" the iPhone's display screen.
It incorporates an ambient light sensor which automatically adjusts lighting levels in response to the lighting around, preserving battery life and making the screen easy to view.
The intelligence 0f the device also automatically switches the screen display from a portrait to a landscape orientation when the device is flipped from a vertical to a horizontal orientation.
And if you should answer a phone call, the iPhone is smart enough to recognize that the phone is being brought close to your face and the keypad automatically deactivates itself, so you don't hit a key accidentally when the phone brushes against your face.
Apple certainly has a multitude of competitors in the market and a sign that it is a lucrative market is when there are a multitude of competitors snapping at your heels.
While it is easy to brush off the Apple iPhone as an "expensive phone", it certainly will not do any justice to the design and effort which has gone into the innovative product.
Can you place a measure on being able to do something easily and simply, without having to fiddle through a thick manual, or look through several "help" pages?
With the Apple iPhone, this certainly won't be an issue.

iPhone First Week Sales Lead to Sell Outs by Abigail Beal
Initial first weekend sales estimates are approximated at 500,000 to 700,000 for the latest Apple product. The iPhone is soon to become just as popular as other products, such as the iPod or the Macintosh computer.
Blackfriars Marketing noted an average of two to three customers coming out of the Apple stores with iPhones on Friday night every single minute. With this fact, they considered that at peak time, sales for Apple could have reached 30,000 per hour. Between Apple and AT&T it is believed that they have sold 500,000 iPhones the opening weekend. Trip Chowdhry of Global Equities Research estimates that the number of iPhones sold that opening weekend would be a bit higher: 525,000.
The Wall Street Journal Online afternoon report stated that:
"Goldman Sachs pegged weekend sales at least 700,000 units -- double its prediction of 350,000 -- and raised its projection for iPhone sales to 5.3 million from four million. J.P. Morgan analysts were considerably less sanguine, saying Apple would recognize 312,000 unit sales for the just-ended quarter. "We believe initial demand may have been disappointing, but it's still early," they wrote."
All this buying frenzy led to empty shelves at Apple Stores and AT&T outlets across the country. The iPhone can be ordered online from the Apple website, but there is a two to four week wait for delivery. Not surprisingly the iPhone is already available at online auction site eBay.com.
In fact an auction was just how the first iPhone itself was obtained. One person paid $100,000 to get the popular phone - and to support a good cause. As of this writing the lucky winner still remains anonymous. Proceeds for the charity auction benefited Keep A Child Alive, a charity that gives anti-retroviral treatment to children with AIDS in Africa.
